The Seiko Turtle Diver's Watch is worth the price and will last quite a long time. I purchased my 1st Turtle in late '79 / early 1980 which took a beating at work and in the water. Eventually it stopped about 2019 working and I sent it to the authorized Seiko Service Center [NJ] ; the bad news came back as they could not repair it due to the age and parts were no longer available. Heart breaking for me it was 2019 it was like losing a cherished friend. I began the long search for a replacement Turtle until the Prospex series came about which is my 2nd Turtle purchase. It has one fault that the movement quit (still under warranty) which was just a year old; it has recently stopped working so it will be making a 2nd trip to the Seiko Service Center for repair , to be junked, or another quest for a 3rd Seiko Turtle!

I've had my pro diver now for about 6 months and with my office job, it defintely loses 1-2 minutes per week if I am not paying attention to winding it during the week. My sedentary life aside, I've been happy with the fit and finish of mine.

I literally bought like 3 of these watches, the tank commander, the sailor/navy, and the paratrooper/Air Force models

I have the silver dial version. I like it a lot, but yours is MUCH prettier.

Because collectors , In general , are a pack of cork sniffers . Doesn't bring near the cash they can get for flipping a Rolex or a Tag Heur either ! I wouldn't exactly call these folks collectors though .................

Ive had a Casio duro for 3 years. Cost me $50, keeps great time. Looks great, wears great.

Lovely review, I have had Seiko watches since the 1980s, and they are tough and reliable.

There are two aspects to regulation of the impulse wheel. First how the balance jewel (centering with the pallet fork) the next is the length of the hairspring. You did adjust the hairspring, the other lever will center the balance with the fork. That will lower milliseconds of deviation and greatly improve the performance.

The Turtle 🐢 is a design icon as much as the Sub. Love my 70’s vintage 6309.

Have you tried any of the SRPD divers? If so did you think they offered a good value for the price? I’m thinking about getting a Turtle but I like the look of the SRPD55 and it is cheaper. I also don’t dive but I like my watches to be durable regardless.

Sorry for my english, i'm from Argentina. I own a similar Timex, think it's "marlin" from 1969, it's self wind, and it also has a gold finish. But, something really surprises me, the gold finishing is not worn out in any place, it's incredible when you think it's 55 years old. My cuestion is : ¿ could it be real gold, and if it is, could it be all gold?. Thanks a lot !!!

My cheapo Invicta ProDiver ($59.95 when I bought it years ago on Amazon) is a great dive watch :D I'm not afraid to take it in the water, that's for sure.

In Soviet Russia the things were made for work. Most things are ugly but working. Make a watch like this for 100 bucks. It’s really crazy. So I ordered an Amphibia and waiting. I think I will wear it more often than my daily Rolex.

Who in their right mind would thought that the amphibia can’t survive a bathtub bath? This what is rated for 200m but can survive up 800m as it was tested here on RUclips

10:08 this is a common misconception. There is no ISO certification for 6425. ISO does not provide certification for any of their standards. ISO certification can be provided by independent certification body, but no one certifies 6425. We can only assume companies are compliant if they're marking their watches as "driver's". If anyone is skeptical, just email the manufacturer and ask them for a copy of their ISO 6425 accreditation. I've done this years ago and not a single company had any.

I have a number of Timex from the 50s and 60s and they’re actually pretty cool. My dad wore them and make a great conversation piece.

I am glad collectors don't bother with Timex watches . This way it keeps them at a reasonable price . I own 6 of them and they are reliable and for the common person. Not flashy . They do their job and that all that's needed. I usually get the expedition series watches .

Have all kinds of them, with Pearl GMT movement and Seiko NH35 and they are so great for about 50 €'s! Wait for black Fridays offers! 👍🏼😉🤣

I mean cause they’re, at least as far as watches go. I wear a timex every day instead of my Rolex. I like swatch watches, which are trash as well but I like the 80s crazy designs. There has to be something collectible about something for it to be well, collectible. 😅

You forgot to mention the Invicta Pro Diver

A lot of drivers watches are only Diver style but you can still swim with them on because they have passed the water Resistance test and you we will be mostly on the surface of the swimming pool the diver style watch I have probably wouldn't pass most of the official tests as it is a £20 casino and the only people who need a certified dive watch are navy seals and professional divers and recreational divers but for most people a Diver style is fine if they are into that sort of look

Took my Casio Duro for a swim during a visit to a swimming pool. The Duro is a thing of beauty. I'm wearing it right now as I type this.

When in doubt, FROGMAN casio is your best friend.

In my opinion, Timex was just a money cash cow for someone. They wanted you to buy something cheap, wear it till you couldn’t anymore, and then go buy another. American capitalist greed at its best, nothing else.
